There are many things I love about this game. The graphics are amazing and it seems more party friendly with band play and the ability to jump in and out of play. It is also nice to be able to switch from guitar, bass, drums or mic very easily. I feel that it is becoming more Rockband-like and less Guitar Hero. You earn trophies instead of cash for gigs and many of the challenges are band based. Also there doesn't seem to be any guitar battles. Despite the changes away from the Guitar Hero formula, I still feel the game is more fun to play and look at then any of the Rockband games I have played. I always invite all my friends to play Guitar Hero because I think it's lots of fun and most of them agree.

+~Gameplay~+ (0/5 means bad gameply) 3.5/5

At first, getting used to the gameplay inference is hard. Coming from me, it is very new and hard to understand. A quick blow through the tutorials refreshed my memory and got me on the right track, however.

+~Graphics~+ (0/5 means horrific graphics) 5/5

The PS3 itself has OUTSTANDING graphics, but GH5 and Infamous are the games I think put the most use to this.

+~Story~+ (0/5 means bad story) 3/5

Frankly, I'm a little disappointed with the lack of a good story in this GH. Basically, you are a band (of which you create or choose) and at the end the God and Devil (I think . . . ) of Rock decide to put you on a wall of greatness (or something like that) and you get a new venue to play in which is a big sphere of flashing lights and lasers called "The Hypershpere"

+~Music~+ (0/5 means bad use of music) 4.5/5

GH usually stuck to Rock, but they've started to expand. Unfortunately, this means they've reached Alternative which isn't much fun to play . . . BUT they've gone beyond the plain, boring, and cool guitar riffs (yes, all at the same time) and explored more solo (ish) songs. Lately, I have been fearing that they might go to country further down the road; in my opinion, this is a place no music franchise should EVER tread . . .

+~Glitches~+ (0/5 means tons of glitches) 4.5/5

So far, I've seen no glitches EXCEPT for one: While I'm busy rockin' out on the bass, I take a look at my character and his left hand is all screwed up. I think he's fingering it all . . . wrong . . . >.>

___________
OVERALL 4/5

Awesome game with gun downloadable content.
Creating characters to make your own band, while time consuming, is essential and tons of fun!

From what I've heard, Guitar Hero 5 is a great game to play with friends, but I haven't played with anyone yet (beyond the very dull online multiplayer) so while reading this review take that into consideration. The game has lots of tracks, but most are not as good as previous versions of the game and the new gameplay mechanics are not really worth the asking price. Overall this game feels a lot like donwloadable content, you get a few new songs, a few new outfits, some new mechanics which don't really add much to the whole thing, and not much else. Still Guitar Hero is a great way to spend a few hours.
